Bringing the Revolution to Life: The Ulster County Militia

July 6 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Step back in time with Hank Yost, leader of the First Ulster Militia reenactment group, as he brings to life the story of local men who took up arms during the Revolutionary War. Dressed in authentic militia attire, Yost will demonstrate the weapons, gear, and daily challenges faced by 18th-century civilian soldiers from Kingston and Saugerties. Learn about militia life—its hardships, routines, and sacrifices—and witness a live musket firing (weather permitting). This engaging presentation offers a vivid, hands-on glimpse into the vital role our region played in the fight for American independence.
