Born in the Bronx and raised in Plattekill\, NY\, he is a graduate of Wallkill High School and Quinnipiac University. Since publishing his book in 2016\, Ish has been featured on radio and television and has given numerous presentations about the history and cultural legacy of Las Villas. \n \nCarla Ramos is the daughter of Lucy and Shorty Martinez\, the original owners of Villa Sunny Acres. In 2013\, she created a Facebook community page dedicated to the Villas of Plattekill\, providing a space for people to share memories\, photos\, and stories from a vibrant era of Latino summer resorts that once flourished in Ulster County.

You can contribute online when you RSVP or donate at the event itself via cash\, check\, or credit card. \nClick Here to Reserve Your Seat\nThank you for supporting local history and community programming! \nAlex Prizgintas is a New York-based historian and musician who lives and works in the Hudson Valley. As a musician\, Alex blends a classical cello with tools such as electric guitar effect pedals and a BOSS RC-300 looping station—pushing the limits of this acoustic instrument to achieve sounds of Jazz\, Rock ’n Roll\, Latin Tangos\, Broadway Classics\, and more. His inaugural “Bach to Rock” program has since expanded to feature twelve offerings including his popular “Salute to Broadway\,”  the “British Invasion\,” and “America: Songs of Patriotism\, Protest\, and Praise.” Each program additionally comes with historical narrations that allow each attendee to journey through history and harmony.

SUMMARY:Making History: The 2004 New Paltz Weddings

The event not only made history\, but it built a vibrant local LGBTQ community. He is a board member of the Gilbert Baker Foundation\, named for the creator of the Rainbow Flag. \nMary Mendola has been an activist for queer rights since 1980. Her groundbreaking book The Mendola Report explored gay relationships as marriages. Mendola was an instructor at SUNY-FIT and SUNY-Ulster. \nJoanne Still is a writer\, social justice activist\, musician\, and teacher. She helped found the Lesbian Visibility Project in Ulster County in the 1990s. She facilitates a ukulele group at the Vet Center (HVNCVR) in Saugerties.
